What is a recurring task?

When setting up tasks, parents can choose between setting them up as one-time or a recurring task. A one time task does not repeat. A recurring task is a task that repeats at the cadence of your choosing. You can also select wether or not the recurring task is ‘All or Nothing”. There is a key difference between these options, which are explained in more detail below:

Recurring Tasks:
A recurring task is a task that can be repeated various times throughout the week. You can set a recurring task to repeat every week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, or 4 weeks. The recurring task repeats at the cadence of your choosing, and the payout of the recurring task will be determined by wether or not you select that the task is “All or Nothing”.

All or Nothing Tasks:

If you select that a task is “All or Nothing”, your child will need to complete all instances of the task in order to be paid out. If your child completes only a portion of the task instances that were set, the task would still be considered incomplete, and as such, they would not get paid.

For example, if you have assigned a recurring task to be completed on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, (or on 3 separate occasions) but your child only completed the task on Monday (or on just one occasion), their total earnings for that task would remain $0.

Partial Payments:

If you set up a recurring task, but do not select that the task be “All or Nothing” your child will be paid for each instance of the task they complete. Unlike an “All or Nothing” task, their payout will not rely on all instances of the task to be complete.

For example, you set a recurring task that needs to be completed 2 times each week, and the payout is set at $1.00. Your child only completes 1 instance of that task. Therefore, they will be paid $0.50 for the payout of that task. This is a partial payment.
